Making Memories Into Art

Reasons to Have an intimate wedding or just elope*

* And yes, you can invite your family and friends there if you choose to elope!

1) It's about the two of you, your union, and your love.

2) Any day, any time, anywhere. Whether you planned your ceremony a week ago or a year ago, it's just as special.

3) You will have a greener day and not throw away so much trash (the average wedding produces 400 pounds of garbage!)

4) You will have a wedding in alignment with your values and incorporate special rituals unique to you.

Are you ready? Let's do this!

Yes, photography is a luxury. You don't need it to get married.

But it is an investment in your memories and your future.

Yes, some memories you will remember. But I guarantee that one day you will come across a picture that has captured a moment that you had forgotten. And looking at the picture, all the memories of that day will come back.

At 96 years old, my grandmother loves to look at pictures from her marriage and travel adventures because each picture brings back the memories and associated emotions.

The pictures are really important.

And they are fun! Whether you are looking at pictures the day after you took them or 70 years from now, you will love seeing your your joy frozen in time.

Whether you are looking at your wedding pictures or travel pictures, it'll be like living that day or that experience all over again.

Hear it from my clients

"Molly was simply the best wedding photographer we could have asked for!! Not only did she come to us with a clear aesthetic and vision, but she also really listened to us about what we wanted for our photos and had some excellent ideas for making them beautiful, while also feeling authentic and natural. She managed to capture every moment of joy— there were many— and numerous moments of humor and silliness for the WHOLE DAY. She came to the salon for some wonderful getting-ready snaps, and stuck around to capture all of the dancing. Having Molly & her cameras felt like having another beloved wedding guest (she’s a delightful human, photography talent aside) who managed to capture our big day in a way that was both gorgeous and candid.

1000% would recommend."

Want to know more?

I am so lucky to have a home both in Upstate New York and in the heart of the Austrian Alps in Tirol, Austria. In Upstate New York, I live equally distant to the Catskills and Adirondack (and only a few hours to the White Mountains in New Hampshire!), so I know all the best, remote places to adventure.

I'm an unobtrusive photographer for the most part. During an event, I try to be as invisible as possible in order to catch candid moments. That said, while taking portraits, I'll give you some direction and be a bit silly to get you laughing and in that beautiful golden hour light.

I'm a Fuji photographer, through and through. Trained on film, I find that Fuji gives me those colors that I love. I always come prepared with two cameras and multiple lenses so we are ready for all conditions.

It depends! On average though, you can expect 30-50 images per hour. That said, if the weather is perfect and everyone is having fun, there might be many more!

I get a sneak peek to you 24 hours after your shoot. The remaining images are handed off within 30 working days via an online gallery.

All of the edited photos are uploaded to an online gallery, from which you can download. With all of my packages, you have unlimited downloads and printing rights. My online gallery is linked to Bay Photo, so you also have the choice to order high-quality prints on archival paper through the gallery.

I hold the copyright as the photographer, however the signed contract grants you permission to share your photos on personal channels. The only request that I have is that you tag me (outdoor_chronicles on Instagram) or link back to my website

That's up to you, though I'm a big fan of an unplugged ceremony. You hired me, after all! Here's the thing. If your friends and family are looking through a viewfinder, they aren't paying attention to you. Plus, by having an unplugged ceremony, you won't have [professional] shots with everyone holding up their phone trying to capture your first kiss as a married couple.

This is one of my absolute favorite parts of my job! If you follow my instagram stories, I'm always out exploring to find the best spots for you to exchange vows and take pictures. If it's an area I am not as familiar with, I arrive early, and sometimes even do a scouting trip a few months prior.

YES! A big, huge yes! We had our dog Arlo at our ceremony, and honestly can't picture getting married without him. I know how important pets are and always welcome having them being a part of your day. If you have goats and chickens and are getting married in your backyard, I'll be pretty adamant about getting portraits with them too!

Yes, most definitely. I love love and would love to help celebrate yours. Whether it's an engagement, maternity session, or vow renewal, I would love to be a part of your day.

So am I! But here's the thing, in addition to catching your joy, I'm pretty good at directing you so that your portraits look fantastic and natural. Rather than just posing, I prefer to prompt you, and usually it flows from there! And I have a pretty good track record.

You touch each other. You hold your bouquet.

You pet your dog. You pop your collar. You twirl your dress.

I promise that I will keep your hands busy!

I book anywhere from the same day (true story!) to a year out. That said, if you have a date in mind that is further than a year away, reach out and let's chat!

Because I only book 16 weddings and elopements a year, the sooner you reach out, the better.

This is so common with elopements! Especially because elopements offer so much flexibility and can be dependent on weather. This is why I keep 2 weeks between all bookings. So if you have a general date in mind, I can work with that.

Once we confirm that this is a good fit, I will send you a contract. A signed contract and 30% deposit is due to reserve your date.

"GREAT! I'M SO FUCKING EXCITED! I mean...forking."

Dude, I curse too. Probably more than I should, though I try to keep it under wraps at events.

But I just get so fucking excited too. So curse away.

Hi, I'm Molly*

Sweet Molly to my husband, MollyMathilde to my father, and Hausen to my BFF

My grandfather gave me my first camera (his old one), took me to the local bookstore, and bought me a book on the technical aspects of photography. And I fell in love with freezing moments in time.

Memories are fleeting, but photos are forever. Next to my desk, I have three small pictures taken at my grandparent's wedding. They are what remains 70 years later. And although I wasn't there, I can see the happiness and joy of the day. And that is why I love weddings and elopements. And also why I encourage people to hire a photographer (that's why you are here!)

But not just any photographer is the right fit for you. You want to find someone who you really jive with. After all, out of everybody at your wedding, you will spend the majority of your time with them. And if you are getting ready separately from your spouse, you might spend more time with me than them!

When I'm not shooting weddings, I'm usually out finding new trails, views, and waterways with my pup Arlo. If it's winter, I am skiing and snowboarding followed by a nice,

hot mug of Glühwein.

Photographers who inspire my work are Gerd Ludwig,

Camilla Rutherford, and Jody MacDonald. They are amazing and I encourage you to check out their work!

Other than that, I get my inspiration from the natural world around me (and Mary Oliver's poetry).

When I Am Among the Trees by Mary Oliver

When I am among the trees,
especially the willows and the honey locust,
equally the beech, the oaks and the pines,
they give off such hints of gladness.
I would almost say that they save me, and daily.

I am so distant from the hope of myself,
in which I have goodness, discernment,
and never hurry through the world
but walk slowly, and bow often.

Around me the trees stir in their leaves
and call out, “Stay awhile.”
The light flows from their branches.

And they call again, “It’s simple,” they say,
“and you too have come
into the world to do this, to go easy, to be filled
with light, and to shine.”

In early 2013, I was gifted a collection of Mary Oliver poems by a close friend.

And I fell in love. It was like I'd been in love with her poetry all along, I just didn't know it.

Mary Oliver's poems brought me peace, warmed my heart, and gave me courage.

I felt "home" when I read them.

I poured through that collection and reread at least one poem every day for months. Largely stuck inside during grad school, I was able to keep close to nature. 'When I Am Among the Trees' is one of my favorites. My other favorite is 'Wild Geese'. Check it out if you don't know it. Reread it if you do.

Mary Oliver's poems mean the world to me. Not only do they bring me joy, they are a big part of my photography inspiration.

Travel and Adventure

I love to travel and I try to do at least two big trips every year.

One to visit my family in Austria and one to some place I've never been before. Before COVID hit, I was in Arizona and LOVED it!

(Though I did not care for the heat. I sweat.)

Hi, I'm Molly and I'm an Adirondack Mountain Wedding Photographer.

I travel all over Upstate NY and New England to capture beautiful and adventurous intimate weddings and elopements.
