Lane and Cayla re-read their vows on top of Mount Kearsarge in New Hampshire.
The weather had been unpredictable leading up to Lane and Cayla's vow renewal adventure elopement in the White Mountains.
So, we watched the weather diligently and came up with Plan Bs and Plan C's. Because the planned location was an open summit, it was especially important that we watch the weather due to safety.
We originally planned to meet up at 2AM to begin the hike up to the summit for sunrise. But rain had other things in store for us. Instead, we met up at 9AM and began our trek into higher elevation. It was still drizzling, but was due to stop by the time we hit treeline. Which it did!
Instead of views for days, Lane and Cayla were treated to a thick fog. But that fog was almost magical because it created a veil of privacy for the two of them as they exchanged their vows up on the summit. We found a little area for the two to get some respite from the wind for this moment. During their original wedding a few years ago, their vows were interrupted due. A member of the wedding party fainted due to the high summer heat during their outdoor nuptials (they were ok).
Taking this opportunity to re-visit their vows was incredibly important and special to the two of them. It was a moment to make their promises to each other, again, in a place that was so important to them doing an activity that they loved. And I was so honored to be a part of it.
After reciting their vows, Cayla and Lane changed outfits for a "first dance" on top of the mountain. They pulled up a favorite song on their phone and Lane spun Cayla as the clouds lifted around them.
Vow renewals are some of my favorite events to photograph. There's just something about re-committing yourself to someone outside of the hooplah of when you first get married. Because in my opinion, marriage and relationships are about making your promises again and again as you change and grow.
What was your favorite thing about working with Molly?

They were so easy to communicate with and really spent the time to get to know my partner and I before our shoot, through emails and even Zoom consultation, and that made all the difference for us. Molly was able to capture our love for each other perfectly in their photos as we renewed our vows in a setting that is very special to us and we will cherish them for a lifetime!
